Marta Aleksandrowicz
Welcome! My name is Marta Aleksandrowicz. I’m in analytic formation at the Lacan School of Psychoanalysis (LSP). I am a member of the New York Circle of the Freudian School of Quebec (École freudienne du Québec) and the Associated Working Groups of SPIIRAL (The Society for Psychoanalytic and Interdisciplinary Interventions and Research After Lacan). I work in the Lacanian orientation and offer sessions to individuals of diverse backgrounds and identities.
I received my doctoral degree (PhD) from University at Buffalo (NY, USA), where I studied Comparative Literature with concentration at the Center for the Study of Psychoanalysis & Culture.
In addition to my ongoing formation and training, my background in literature and philosophy and interest in music shape how I listen and support creativity and free expression in the sessions. And my experience of living in several countries and different languages helps me create a space that welcomes individuals with migration and/or multilingual experiences.

There are many reasons you might find yourself here, such as navigating life changes, facing challenges in your relationships, or managing difficult experiences. I offer an open and confidential space for you to speak, hear yourself in new ways, and find a way to live and make decisions according to your desire.
I follow the psychoanalytic principle of free association. You can thus speak about anything that is on your mind or comes to to you during the session: from exploring what feels confusing or disruptive for you, to speaking about your daily life, dreams, fantasies, desires, memories, and bodily experiences. Throughout this process, transforming your relationship to your history and lived experience will become possible.
My practice is based on the idea of the “talking cure.” Speaking offers the possibility for transforming symptoms and challenges into a path for discovering and freeing desire, which is unique to each individual. In this approach, a symptom isn’t seen as a disorder, but as something in one’s experience that wants to be heard and expressed. My role is not to provide quick fixes or make decisions for you. Rather, it is to support you in speaking freely during the sessions, and in exploring unique possibilities, inventions, and solutions this process will open up for your life.
The only condition for starting the sessions is your willingness to engage in this process. I believe it is a long-term investment in life.
